The Sustainability Industry Team, part of the Microsoft Customer and Partner Solutions organization, is accountable for leveraging deep industry and technical expertise that enable sales teams and partners to deliver relevant, customized industry solutions and services, built on a secure, integrated cloud platform, to empower our customers to digitally transform their businesses. About The Role – Industry Advocate
The Industry Advocate (IA) role is a senior role, operating at a strategic level with Microsoft’s top customers, requiring deep engagement and understanding of sustainability across key industries. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert in sustainability challenges, solutions, and business outcomes. The Industry Advocate will act as the industry leader in a customer centric strategic account team and will strive to build relationships and become a trusted advisor to key business decision-makers, helping them digitally transform their business and deliver business value.
Responsibilities
The key accountabilities for the Industry Advocate role include:
- Generating and owning industry relevant solutions and platform opportunities.
- Working and selling closely with Microsoft and its partners.
- Delivering growth of the Microsoft integrated Cloud Services through industry-focused sustainability solutions (Azure, Microsoft 365 and Dynamics 365) by building new relationships and positioning industry relevant solutions that address the customer’s business challenges and objectives.
- Partnering closely with the world-wide industry sales teams and specialist sellers to share best practices and customer references/case studies to bring Microsoft’s industry digital transformation stories to life.
- Engaging with selected Strategic accounts, building deep partnership with the customer and the account teams to drive a multi-year business strategy.
- Building relationships with CxO and business leaders to drive business outcomes with selected Strategic accounts, growing revenue to achieve in-year budget and rolling 3 yr. CAGR.
- Nurturing the industry partner ecosystem across selected strategic accounts.
- Landing the WW Industry sustainability strategy, solutions, and sales plays within the Strategic accounts.
- Achieving integrated cloud revenue targets in selected Strategic accounts.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of industry domain expertise and sustainability solution experience working in business roles across key industries including retail, consumer goods, manufacturing, energy and financial services or relevant experience.
- OR Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant industry domain (e.g., Government, Education) or related field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration) AND 3+ years Industry domain expertise and sustainability solution experience working in business roles across key industries including retail, consumer goods, manufacturing, energy and financial services or relevant experience.
- 5+ years proven solution or services sales experience in a relevant industry domain (e.g., Government, Education)
Additional Or Preferred Qualifications
- 6+ years of industry domain expertise and sustainability solution experience working in business roles across key industries including retail, consumer goods, manufacturing, energy and financial services or relevant experience.
- OR Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant industry domain (e.g., Government, Education) or related field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration) AND 5+ years Industry domain expertise and sustainability solution experience working in business roles across key industries including retail, consumer goods, manufacturing, energy and financial services or relevant experience.
- OR Master’s Degree in a relevant industry domain (e.g., Government, Education) or related field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration) AND 3+ years Industry domain expertise and sustainability solution experience working in business roles across key industries including retail, consumer goods, manufacturing, energy and financial services or relevant experience.
- 6+ years proven solution or services sales experience in a relevant industry domain (e.g., Government, Education)
- OR 6+ years proven experience in deep industry role.
- Business development and sales skills.
- Market development skills.
- Strong executive presence.
- Industry specialized sales or consulting position within an IT Consulting or Services company.
- Solution sales or consulting position in a competing or partner company.

The salary for this role in the state of Colorado is between $136,200 and $216,500.
At Microsoft, certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
